Two words describes that, Simply lovely!!.
As far as we know Barry's surgery is still on for the 24th. He is still waiting for his papers from the hospital. .My plans for Thanksgiving are still on hold .Hoping for the best
So glad to hear that Donna will be coming back home and staying with Giles after the kids go to Texas.. I think Texas will be a good move for them. Now I feel better about the whole thing. Hoping for the best with everybody involved
I hadn't heart that about Donna/Giles. Very good news!!!
Love the video and how you were able to do amazing grace using voices from the past and present. Awsome!!! AMAZING Family!!!!
Great video, Betty and memories of recording the song are so, so sweet.
Hard to believe it is November. After an eventful day I am sitting outside to unwind before bed. Uncle Pat has retired to his room already. Cliff just got home and announced he is tired enough to cry. Bailey has plopped on my feet and Pringle is running around in circles. We are living life, Diane!
I'm like Cliff, I'm tired ... Been doing too much on these beautiful days because I know they are not going to last long.. Had yard sales two days in a row . Did great. first day and so so the next. Trying to clean out 'before winter.". .. Walking some, burning off some fat " before winter " :-) Always lots to do.
Looking forward to some Ohio apples, Kathy Gail.. Where are you and Uncle Pat going to stay when you go up?
Sometimes I can see the video and sometimes I can't but I listen to the song over and over. Beautiful!.
Barry will leave Tue to go to get ready for surgery. They will probably run test on him all day Wed. then he comes home and will go back on the 23 rd. Surgery will be the 24th.. As of now he has 8 more working days before surgery and after a long recovery we'll see what happens.. Keep him in your prayers.. We all know that is power in prayer.
Sometimes I can't see the video either. Don't know why. Must have something to do with hard drive memory. Sometimes it starts 5 minutes after I click on it.
Nola had gall bladder surgery on Thursday. It was very successful. The kids have been with us a lot - even Little George stayed Thursday night - but it was a real problem when he wanted to nurse about 1:30 a.m. - he refused a bottle, so I walked the floor with him a lot that night. He was really happy to see his Mommy and Daddy the next day. The other two are still here. It's their regular Friday night stay over. Now they are ready for waffles.
Jan, I pray Barry's surgery will be successful as well. We will be praying and holding on to our faith that he will be better than he's ever been!
I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving! By then, his surgery will be over and he will be on the road to complete recovery.
Will Barry be home for Thanksgiving?
Jan, Uncle Pat already has bags in the car for your apples! I think he is getting some for Micky too. I will get plenty to have around the house for the holiday.
We are leaving for SML on Saturday, Nov. 21 and go on to Ohio after spending the night with Ginger. I am not sure whether we will be staying at a hotel or with Ole Bob on Lamcaster. Bob has graciously invited us, but we don't want to be a bother.
Our household is settling into a nice routine after all of us (Cliff, Bailey, Pringle, Uncle Pat and I) have settled ourselves into the Fairfax house. Uncle Pat has made his room into a very cozy man cave. We have set up the kitchen so all his favorite foods and the utensils he likes to use are handy. We keep apples and bananas in the fruit bowl and little bitty snickers in the candy dish. Life's little pleasures.
Cliff is pleased to be in Fairfax again since it makes getting back and forth to work so much easier. I like it too, for many many reasons.
Bailey and Pringle are satisfied in Fairfax too. All Bailey wants is food and a blankie. Pringle wants to bounce off the furniture and sit in somebody's lap.
Every once in a while I catch myself thinking, "Something is not right. What's missing?" Then I realize it's the pain that I had for so long in my foot and leg. It is so good to be pain free.
Kathy Gail, so glad your pain is gone...I hope Barry can say that sometime in the near future. No, I don't think he will make it home for Thanksgiving.. His surgery is the 24th and he will be in the hospital around 7 days. I don't want them to send him home too early.. I don't know how he can ride back home.. We may have to rent something so he can lay down.. It will be a 6 hour trip.. Barry is tough though, He has already proven that with the pain he has managed for so long.. Bless his heart!! I don't know yet what I'm doing but if I can I want to be with him. I can have my Thanksgiving after Barry comes home.. Shana and Amber will be here . They will have Thanksgiving with you all if I'm not here.
Betty, Glad Nola's surgery is over and she is doing okay. I had that several years ago and it wasn't bad for me but sad to say it didn't help much.. I still have so much trouble but you would never know by looking at this little fat Momma.
Sorry you had it rough with little George. No, I would loved to have been a fly on the wall the night he was wanting to nurse .tee hee Bet that was interesting!
Diane and I enjoyed Kara's baby shower today along with Brenda, Mel and kids. Lots of good food, of course. Kara liked her surprise quilt I made from her Papaws shirts.
I'm glad to hear that all the "procedures" went well and praying that Barry's will go well too. Safe travels to Uncle Pat and Kathy Gail. Sorry to have missed the shower for Kara today. Sounds like it was great fun!
Barry is on his way to Charlottesville today Will have several test done tomorrow f... The dreaded but much needed surgery will be soon now. Just like Kathy Gail's song., time keeps marching along and today becomes tomorrow and etc. and before we know it, time has passed and the big event is ready to take place( good or bad)---- and life goes on.. Pray for safe traveling for Barry and Shawna today and tomorrow.
Praying for Barry - I'm so glad Shawna is there for him! Praying for you, too, Jan. It's so hard when we can't make things perfect for our children by taking away their pain ourselves. But God is the great healer! We just have to believe it!
The verdict is in on Barry.. Major surgery is always scary but this sounds so bad for Barry. He will have two metal rods( that will be the length of the lumbar and 16 screws put in. He also has another curve in his spine besides the scoliosis.. They will crack some bones so they can curve his spin the way it is supposed to be They will be will also work on disc.. He will be in surgery 6 hours and will be in ICU afterwards. I guess the length of time there depends on how he does. He will be in the hospital at least 7 days and maybe to rehab later.. Will not be able to do anything except sit, walk, eat and sleep for at least two months. God love my 52 year old baby!!
Feeling so bad for Barry...... praying this surgery will make life better for him!
Me too Betty,,,,, , I just don't know how much relief he can get.. It sounds like he needs a whole new spin and we know that's not possible.. I'm praying that God intervenes and it's not as bad as they think.. . His report sounds like he has one disc that is okay.. I should put his report on here but it's just too much and a lot of the words we don't understand.. He has spur, herniated and bulging disc , severe degeneration disease, scoliosis, the defect in his back where the muscle has dropped down plus another curve in his spin that he didn't know about and he has severe stenosis with some of his disease. I put all this on here so you would know that I'm not just a whining Mom.
I'm going to stop my whining now and just ask for lots of prayers. We know God has all power and he says ask in faith believing and you shall receive. So help me pray everyday until this thing is over.
Another prayer request -- Bennie is in the hospital with fluid around his heart and lungs. He is in Johnson City Veterans Hospital.. It is serious. Pray for him and his family.
Charlie is in rehab now from the stroke he had.. He is making progress.. Prayer answered again... So thankful we have a big and mighty God else this family alone would wear him out.
Much prayers for Barry, Mrs Barry, and for you, Jan. I know you would take his pain if you could. God bless!
We wonder why things happen the way they do -- why bad things happen to good people. And all that wondering does no good. "We'll understand it all by and by." Meantime, as bad as the surgery and ICU will be, the next couple of months will be the hardest to get through. So, Jan, how can we help you help Barry and his wife during the recovery?
Also, is there anything we can do for Loretta or Monk and Jimmy.
So much sadness and now hearing about the terror in France, we are reminded of so much evil in the world. Just keep praying, praying, praying!
I am praying for Barry and all that is ahead for your family. We are not promised a life free of suffering but He does promise to never leave us and joy will come in the morning!
The Dr. took the fluid from around Bennie's heart and he is doing better Thankful for that.. Haven't heard from Charlie today.
Thanks Kathy Gail for the offer to help.. I think we will be fine once Barry gets back home and gets all settled in his recliner. Shawna will have to work,of course, so I will be in and out helping all I can. Gillis will take care of his chickens.. I've got a feeling it's going to be a long winter I think Marcelle and family will be okay.. She just keeps going and going like the ever-ready battery.
Just remember to reach out for help if you need it. Sometimes we feel so alone -- but we aren't.
Been thinking a lot about prayer a lot lately.. A prayer is the desire of the heart. It doesn't have to be long and fancy and as I have these thought this prayer comes to mind--- I think this is Ricky saying grace before he ate ( when he was very young--- God is Great! God is Good! Please Lord don't let me get chocked! Amen :-) ( As humble as a little child)
Jan, so glad you still have your sense of humor!
Uncle Pat and I are beginning our holiday journey on Friday. One night in Richardsville with Marilyn, the next in SML with Ginger and Lanny, then on to Ohio for a visit. From there we go to Pound for Thanksgiving and return to Fairfax the Sunday after. We are looking forward to the travel and to seeing everyone.
Sounds like you all are going to be ""On The Road Again" You all will be covering a lot of miles. Hope Uncle Pat will be okay. Hope you will be okay. Makes me tired just thinking about it.. Safe traveling! Keeps Barry in your thoughts on Tuesday wherever you are.
.. Always so much to do.. Finally I'm ready for our Christmas at Thanksgiving, just in time to get my house shoveled out a little and get ready for the much dreaded trip to Charlottesville. I made my list and I checked it twice just to see who was naughty or nice.. Best I can tell everybody has been "sorta" nice .
Get better soon, Betty.so you can join the Collins clan for turkey.
Kathy Gail and Uncle Pat, Keep it on the road!
Leaving in the morning for Charlottesville . Won't know what time the surgery starts Tue until tomorrow evening.. I'll see everybody Thurs if all goes well Prayers and more prayers!!
Be careful traveling, Jan. We are praying for you all.
Thanks Ging!.. You all be careful traveling .I dread the traffic on 81 Wed. but I won't be traveling anyway if I don't get my butt off here and pack a few things. It' almost 9 o'clock and we are leaving in the morning. I don't have a thing packed. Can you tell I really dread going?.
Thanksgiving Dayhas come and gone and soon everybody will be on the road again It has be so good to be with family--laugh ,dance and eat and then eat again. I have been thankful, happy and sad all at the same time.. ThankfulI was able to be with Barry during his surgery. Thankful he came through okay. So sad to see him in so much pain. Sad that I couldn't be there with him all the time Happy to spend time with Shana and Ella---Amber Allie and Jayden all my sisters and many other Collins's. Thankful for our Christmas at Thanksgiving.. Everyday should be a day for giving thanks.. We have so much to be thankful for.
God bless my Barry!!
Very well put, Jan! Keep us informed about Barry's progress! You sound like Mom. She would have taken our pain upon herself if it kept us from suffering. I pray that God blesses Barry and brings him through better than he's ever been!
Prayers for Charlie Powers who had been bitten 4 times by a copperhead.. He did not go to the hospital right way . His arm has swollen so big it split. He first went to Norton community hospital. Now he is Johnston Memorial.. I don't know much except that he is in bad shape.
Unbelievable!!!!! Praying that he comes thru yet another obstacle!
Charlie didn't have surgery .. He has used up another one of his lives.. I don't know what could happen to him next that could be worse than this.. He was bitten 5 times.. He cut the snakes head off with a knife. Now that what you call (Johnny bad rump) Tee Hee!!
Barry is getting ready to (dope up) as he calls it and see if he can rest tonight Yep! we would take our kids pain if we could. So glad he has almost a week down now..
I talk to Marcelle a little bit ago and she is very worried about Charlie. Sounds like he is not out of the woods yet.. Still needs prayers.
Barry had a good nights rest last night and has done well today.. I think now we can say he's on the road to recovery. He said he was loopy today because of all the meds. Eating better now Shawna has to go back to work tomorrow so I will be in and out checking on
him.. Gillie is keeping busy taking care of the chickens and eggs..He has gathered 26 1/2 doz. in a week
I do declare!!
If anybody reads this please pray for Barry. He is Norton community hospital with a high white blood count.
Praying for you too, Jan.
