Sounds good to be able to see the Brown children .Looking forward to all the events.
Everybody say a prayer for Shana. It seems she may be having some heart problems. She has been to one Dr for a test, now they are sending her to see a heart Dr. Seems it's one worry after another these days .Her feet have been swelling and looking purple. Praying it's not serious and they can correct the problem
My friend Susan has been moved to a skilled nursing home. It is just a matter of time they say. It is unreal how fast this has been. Remember the family. They are taking turns staying with her.
Jan, you have been so low-key lately. Now I can understand why. You have a lot to deal with right now; Hopefully, our time together will renew us all. Praying for Shana..... hard to believe but heart problems do run in the family.... praying they can correct and treat the problem! Looking forward to next weekend!!!
Betty, I can't find the time to get on here.. Busy, Busy, Busy! Can! Can! Can! I don't think it's that much more work, just that I can't handle it like I used to but I've never seen so many tomatoes. I can't believe I bought 30 plants We have had bushels of tomatoes and Barry has had bushels of cuc's. It's pickles, pickles everywhere. Tomatoes caned, frozen, juiced, sauce and salsa. We have given away so much produce and it keeps a coming but like you said. We are thankful for the bounty. We've made mixed pickles and kraut and getting ready to make some more. Barry and I have helped each other.
All this came up with Susan last week. I dropped everything and went to see her twice because I was afraid she would be moved somewhere .She was moved and is now in a coma in one short week after being told she had cancer all over her body.So glad I did take the time and go while she could still talk to me.
So much sadness. Mick told me tonight that Jenny's ex-mother -in law hung herself today . That is Aaron and Mariah's grandmother She was such a sweet lady. She just lost her husband not long ago.. Pray for that family.
So, soooo sad - about Susan and about Mozel (I think that is her name). Lord, have mercy on us all....... probably being in a coma and going quickly (Susan) not suffering is a blessing......
See you next Thursday, Jan. HOpe we can visit on Bold Camp while Tom and Nola are there.
I talked to Ginger a while ago and she asked if I had been on the blog lately. "So much sadness," she said.
I see. My heart breaks for you, Jan, for the loss of your friend. I can understand the desperation that led Jennifer's former mother-in-law to kill herself, and I have such compassion for Mariah and Aaron. My heart is shattered tonight because I want to do something to make things better and yet I know there is nothing I can do.
Susan passed away about 2 o'clock this morning. I'm glad she's not suffering now and didn't have to suffer long . . I'm sure she suffered at home alone these past two months not knowing what was wrong with her.She was a very private person. I think of so much now I would like to say to her or ask her. Just goes to show we shouldn't take anything for granted
Our Aunt Joy just called to tell me that our aunt Rosalee kidneys are shutting down. They took her to the hospital but said there was nothing they could do for her She said she wanted to come home to die so they brought her home.
Hope everything works out okay for all our scheduled events but it really is hard to plan right now.
Better news about Shana . Her Dr. today wasn't too concerned ,Said her heart was enlarged a little but it may be normal for her. They will do more test and she needs to stop smoking.
Allie will be flying back from Scotland next Sat. Pray for safe flying for her
I did not know about Aaron and Mariah grandmother. That is shocking. Jan, so sorry to her about your friend. Life is full of both goodness and pain. One day after while over there in the morning.........all goodness! Hang on people. I can only imagine.
So sorry for your friend Jan! And what a tragedy for Jennifer, Al and children! Will keep them in our prayers! Please let me know if there is anything we can do for the kids.
We too have someone dear to us that is in the last stages of cancer and has been fighting a long time. It was hard yesterday to have joy about things when there is such suffering!
Aaron and Maria's grandmother's funeral will be Tuesday. Susan's funeral will be Monday. Marcelle's son ,Jimmie Carrol's mother-in law will be buried tomorrow.. She passed away yesterday. She lived up Powers Branch from us... Rose is bad. all her organs are shutting down.. Family, sorry to report all bad news but so thankful you are there to listen
My heart aches from all this sadness. Let's love each other while we can.
Just been to see Rosalee. She knew me, I told her that I loved her and she told me she loved me too. They are still giving her lasix and she had eat some apple sauce. She didn't seem to be suffering.
Thanks for update on Rosalee. Hope I can get to see her next week!
There are so many trials and troubles in this world. But He has overcome the world, and joy comes in the morning. Be comforted by this promise.
I also went to see Rose today .She smiled when she saw me and said she knew me but I don't know if she did or not They said she was better than she had been the past couple of days She heard everything that was said and tried to join in the conversation. She showed me her baby which was a doll she had in her arms. .The family is taking good care of her . You can tell they are under a lot of stress though. We've been there and done that so we know how they feel Betty, hope you will be able to visit her next week
To slumber town I must go. I have a grandson to get off to school bright and early in the morning and after that a funeral service at ten and one tomorrow evening. We will serving Susan's family a late lunch at her church after the burial..
Be careful on the road tomorrow all you Collins people
I hope I'm feeling better by tomorrow. I'm sorta on the drunk side. Just hit all of a sudden. Can't afford to get dizzy, too much cooking to be done .
Rose is getting worse.
Hope you do feel better, Jan. We need your fun-loving person or to make everything complete! Are Shana and family coming back for the memorial? I sure hope so!
Tom and Nola are coming Friday and returning Saturday, so I'm hoping we can have a soup bean, fried tater dinner Friday night, but I know that probably can't happen because everybody will be so busy preparing for Saturday evening and Sunday! But I plan to cook at the house Friday evening for everybody that can come! Hope Melody, Teresa, and kids, and Judy/Winfred's family can come for a little while anyway.
Also, I hope to stop and see Rose Friday morning !
Safe traveling to all!
Didn't make it in time to see Rosalee. We just learned she passed away during the night, August 19th, 20th........ RIP Rose!
My friends funeral was last Monday. Our Aunt Rose's . funeral was this past Monday and in between all that we had a baby shower , a bridal shower and Mom and Dads memorial. Sadness and happiness all at the same time----- Life goes on. In spite of all the sad time there's the good times and we are so blessed to have each other.
Yesterday a turn of events set us back again but we shall recover and move on... It hurts when your character is attacked.. Yesterday was a day of hurt feelings and a time to ponder a few things.Today is a day that I have to do twice as much because of my lack of production yesterday. I have picked myself up, dusted myself off and I'm ready to go again. Tomatoes are ripe and ready .
Well, put Jan. I'm still trying to understand what provoked the person we loved so much to attack us in such a personal way. Beyond reasoning..........
My work load just got lighter with the last of the beans from the garden! Looking forward to fall.
All is well that ends well.
I've been a busy woman again today but soon I can rest, I think.. I stayed out of the tomato patch today to see if that's what's wrong with my eyes. Put nothing on my face except water but my eyes are still burning and itching. Had my eyes checked about a month ago. and all was well .I'm allergic to something though.. May have to get some of those expensive eye drops that he wanted me to get before( $100.00 for a little tiny bottle) Or maybe stay inside with my toe nails painted and my feet propped up(or not) sounds boring to me
. A few more days of tomatoes and I'm still getting a few beans I'm about ready to can some apple pie filling from Joey's golden delicious apples.
So glad to have Allie back from Scotland. She is a little under the weather, probably because of the temp. change. She says it is cool there and rains a lot . They used heat several times in July. They have no air conditioning there No need because it mostly in the 60' during the day Allie is glad to be home but says she wants to go back sometime
So glad Allie is home and all is well.
Jan, I thought the problem with my eyes was allergies; but according to my doctor's visit, she saw no allergies, but instead chronic dry eye - causing the redness, itching and pressure (pain). She gave me a sample of "refresh" to use twice a day or more often if I need it. Can't tell a difference yet and don't know what the cost will be of the over the counter drops!
It's Saturday morning, kids are here (still in bed), Conard has gone for his morning time on the "liar's bench" - the local hang out for retired men! I'm enjoying quiet, peaceful time for me!
Betty, I like the name for the the local hangout for retired men. I will tell you sometime what they call the hang out here . Can't put it o here.. Ha!
Betty, I've had my eyes checked for dry eye. Didn't have it .I had some bleeding behind my left eye before but it was gone last month for my eye exam My eyes were better yesterday but I went to the garden late yesterday evening and today they are bad again.. Do you remember how Mom used to get. Wouldn't it be terrible if I had to stay out of the garden and let Gillis do it all? Tee Hee! It may not be that at all because I do have allergies to certain products and I may have developed an allergy to the one I've been using . We shall see. Felt lousy yesterday and today. Didn't go to church.
We have another death in the family. Gillis's aunts husband.. .. So many deaths with friends and family in the last few weeks
Jan, I think I heard Mick say the name of the Hardee's version of the liar's bench! It's funny and I know why you can't say it on here. We may be banned from the web! We are experiencing a lot of church family deaths here...... it is sad, but it is the circle of life....... and the reason we must be good to each other and live our lives pleasing to God........ not always easy!
Shana had her stress test yesterday and did great..but her heart is a little enlarged on the right side probably because of her smoking. I've been preaching to my girls for a long time but they don't listen. If they listened to their Mom a long time ago they would never have started in the first place..Shana can do it I know she can and she will.
Glad Shana' news was not terribly bad news!
I'm feeling a little down, I think it's because the days are getting shorter so fast! I'm looking forward to coming back home. I need a "fix" - don't know if I can wait until October!
It's sad when we all get together and then it's over.
Come on up when you get ready and we will get ready for apple butter.
Betty, I got my fix today. I went to the flea market today and sold a few things. I missed Susan. wasn't the same but I did get rid of a little junk.. Will sale again when it gets a little cooler. It was only 91 today
Well, life is throwing another curve...... Nola's Mom is very sick and has been transported to Chapel Hill. They fear she may be rejecting the liver transplant she had some time ago!
That is sad. We will keep her in our prayers.
Praying Nola's Mom will be okay and it's not what they think. Good you all are there so close to help out with the kids.
Praying for Nolas' mom and for her family!
Pat had emergency surgery this morning. The doctors removed a build up of stones and sludge from the bile duct which was the cause of the blood infection they found yesterday. She is being treated with numerous antibiotics and the prognosis is good! Tom has George, we have the other two - hopefully Nola can come home tomorrow, (if she can find a way). She rode down with her sisters who want to stay until Pat is released (don't know when that will be). Lots of people have been praying; God is good!
Hope Nola's mom continues to improve and can come home soon.
Hope all is well with everybody and you are getting yourselves in gear for apple butter.
Hot as a firecracker here this week and dry as a bone. Need rain!! Leaves are already turning. I love fall but dread what follows. I don't like naked trees. I love to see them fully dressed but I will do like everybody else, take it as it comes and be happy.
